Florida Business Continuity Center Prepared for Start of Hurricane SeasonTuesday, June 1 2010

Winter Haven, FL June 1, 2010 – With the June 1st start of hurricane season in the Atlantic Basin, The Florida Business Continuity Center (FBCC, announces preparedness to meet the disaster recovery and business continuity needs of organizations throughout Florida. Located in Winter Haven, Florida, within the Inland Fiber & Data Technology Park, the Florida Business Continuity Center was established to provide full service alternate workforce recovery facilities and related disaster recovery and data center services for businesses and governmental entities throughout Florida seeking a secure inland location for temporary staff relocation for continuity of business operations.

This year, the NOAA’s National Hurricane Center will issue tropical storm watches when conditions are possible along the coast within 48 hours. Tropical storm warnings will be issued when those conditions are expected within 36 hours. This is an increase of 12 hours from those issued in previous years. Similar increases in lead-time will apply to hurricane watches and warnings. The hurricane watches and warnings will generally be timed to provide 48 and 36 hours notice, respectively, before the onset of tropical storm force winds. These early warnings will provide much-needed additional timeframes for organizations to enact their disaster recovery plans and relocate staff to a safer, easily accessible facility.

The FBCC offers critical and affordable workforce recovery, telecommunication, and unique data center services with geo-diverse and dedicated contract options for clients. The FBCC is within easy reach from all parts of Florida, yet located away from the risks associated with coastal locations.  Its location at 168 feet above sea level is outside both the 500-year Flood Zone X and maximum wind-borne-debris areas associated with land-falling hurricanes. Fully-appointed facilities include 250 fully equipped workstations with available advanced call center capabilities, on-site technical support, private offices, conference rooms, kitchen and break room, equipment storage space and full bathroom and shower facilities.
